From Kudzu is a
3-person video collective exploring Asian American identity in the
U.S. South.

Nash Consing

(co-director/producer) is a second generation Filipino American from western North Carolina currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Nash’s work surrounds Asian American identity and diasporic experiences in the U.S. South through the vehicle of deeply personal and self-reflective storytelling.

Using a mixed media approach, such as analog photography, narrative writing and analog to digital diary entry, Nash leverages these mediums to aim for the emotional truths in his projects.

Nash is a 2022 NeXtDoc Fellow and a ‘21 CAAM + NOVAC Sauce Fellow, as well as a ’21 AAJA Voices Fellow. He is also a member of A-Doc and Stand With Asian Americans. His work has been featured in ABC News and The WORLD Channel.

Hope Davison

(co-director/producer) is a second generation Japanese American filmmaker with roots in North Carolina and Tokyo. She enjoys creative storytelling through the lens of empathy and nuance; much of her work reflects onthe uncertainties of life that exist within.

Reflections on her personal identity growing up mixed race in the South and documentary experience in the U.S. and internationally informs her creative approach. She is curious about illustrating the intricacies of how physical and emotional environments intersect with identity.

In between freelancing, she has produced original video and photo work for The Washington Post and The Grand Rapids Press.

Melanie Dang Ho

(co-director/producer) is a queer Vietnamese American filmmaker with roots in Florida and Mississippi. She has navigated much of her life through observation. Mel began noticing this while trying to process her parents’ haunting of the war in Vietnam. This relationship with the act of looking and making connections to memories shows up in her own work and artistic practice. Through a deliberately paced observational and poetic mode, Melanie’s intention is to allow the audience to become observers and grounded within the place of the film. She wants them to notice the beauty of the mundane and the details of how bodies move through space.

Mel is an inaugural CAAM + NOVAC SAUCE Fellow, NeXt Doc Fellow and Gotham + HBO Documentary Development Initiative Fellow.
